Taylor Momsen has quit her acting career!
She said that she just wants to focus on her music and her band, and put acting out of the picture.
“I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band,” said Taylor. “That’s pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully, I’ll be able to only do that for the rest of my life.”
Yeah, we remember when we weren’t sure what was happening with her and “Gossip Girl.” It didn’t look like her character would be back…and no matter how much she changes, we’ll still always remember her as the adorable Cindy Lou Who in “The Grinch!”
But as long as she’s happy, that’s what’s important. It was probably difficult for her to do acting and music, trying to balance out the two. But now that she’s got the one she really loves, she can put all of her time and energy into just that.
Hopefully that means that The Pretty Reckless will make some new music soon!
But at the same time, we’re a little scared…now that Taylor has more time for music, that probably means she’ll think of some more raunchy ideas for her performances…

This isn’t a huge disappointment, but Taylor Momsen has announced that she is done acting forever. The former Gossip Girl star told Elle that she “quit acting” in order to focus on her music career. According to Taylor, she is in a band and is on tour and “that’s pretty much all” she wants to do. She also hopes that she’ll be able to focus on that for the rest of her life. Hmm…last time I checked the only thing she got attention for during her performances was being half naked and acting much older than her real age while on stage.
There were some other gems from her interview with the magazine too. For example, she loves to wear actual “stripper boots” and always makes sure to have the “blackest eyeshadow I can find” on hand. Apparently all she needs on tour is dry shampoo and plenty of black eyeshadow. Yeah…she should probably grow up a little before she makes any more decisions about what to do with her life.

Maybe it’s just a ruse for attention but Taylor Momsen sure has our attention. The singer made waves earlier this month in an interview with Elle Magazine in which she announced her retirement from acting. “I quit acting, actually. I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band and that’s pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully I’ll be able to only do that for the rest of my life.”
The 18-year old from St. Louis previously portrayed Jenny Humphrey on the hit CW series Gossip Girl, and also appeared as Cindy Lou Wu in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Her band The Pretty Reckless signed with Interscope Records in 2009 and released their debut album a year later. Momsen has gained notoriety for her crazy on-stage antics while performing with her band.

Momsen is clearly very excited about her upcoming venture in music, including a worldwide tour with Evanescence. “We’re on tour forever! We’re actually starting a tour with Evanescence in the fall in the US, it goes all around the US and then around Europeâ€"the UK, Germanyâ€"so that’s really exciting. That’s for the next couple of months, so we’re pretty much on the road until at least 2012. And then it will continue!”

But Momsen fans will have a little bit to wait before their next album drops. She described the writing process as “tortuous” and prefers to play for her fans with her band. She added, “I love recording, it’s a completely different mindset from being on tour. But anytime you have an opportunity to play music, whether it’s in the studio or on the road, it’s the best thing in the world.”

In a recent interview with Elle, Taylor Momsen spoke about her “budding” musical career (in which she often flashes her breasts onstage, cuz it’s so Rock ‘n’ Roll yo!) and mentioned in passing that she “quit” acting:

I know, I know, I was super worried about it too, that when Taylor Momsen finally turned 18, she would stop being so dark and intense, and instead of doing things like f*cking for Satan she would pick up knitting or turn into a cat lady. But we have no cause for all that worry, because darling Taylor just did an interview with Elle, and she’s still our little angel!

Looking to focus solely on her musical aspirations, Taylor Momsen says she’s left her acting days behind her – for good.
After rocking out onstage during her weekend performance at the Tokyo Summer Sonic music festival, the “Pretty Reckless” rocker dropped a bombshell, telling Elle magazine she has “quit acting” forever.
“I quit Gossip Girl and now tour and am in a band. That’s pretty much all I want to do. Hopefully, I’ll be able to only do that for the rest of my life,” Taylor told the publication.
Back in April, Momsen hinted towards her onscreen departure, telling Us Weekly, “[Music] is all I ever wanted to do with my life. I wanted to make records and tour, so it’s very exciting that our first record is coming out and people can actually hear it.”
