Russell Armstrong (Getty Images) The estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong was found dead in LA last night, reports TMZ. Russell Armstrong apparently hanged himself in the Mulholland Drive home where he was staying.No suicide note was found at the scene, according to preliminary reports, and authorities say no drugs or alcohol were found in the bedroom.The LA City Fire Department pronounced the 47-year-old dead at 8:16pm Monday evening.
Russell's lawyer says Russell was in deep debt. Ronald Ruchards said: "I feel bad because his credit cards weren't working ... He had tremendous financial problems."
He added: "He was also extremely bummed out about the divorce with Taylor. As far as a will, even if he does have a will, they don't have any assets, so I'm not sure what there would be left to leave. I am extremely saddened ... I had no idea he was depressed."
LAPD spokesperson Richard French confirmed the death: "I can confirm that Mr. Armstrong was found dead from an apparent hanging in a residence on Mulholland Drive."
Taylor filed for divorce last month, after claiming Russell had physically abused her. Insiders said she was informed of his death last night.
